Cooking with alcohol intimidates one in four Americans, according to a new survey by Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar®, America’s favorite neighborhood grill and bar.

In fact, if it came down to it, men would be more comfortable cutting down their own Christmas trees and women would rather risk making a basket-weave pie crust from scratch before adding spirited flair to their at-home creations. It’s why Applebee’s restaurants are bringing back the popular Spirited Cuisine menu, a collection of dishes infused with the complex flavors of wine, bourbon, beer and now tequila.

About Spirited Cuisine:

BREW PUB PRETZELS & BEER CHEESE DIP:

This pretzel dough was created to be light and fluffy inside and crispy outside. Sesame seeds, coarse salt and crushed red pepper are sprinkled on top to create a unique experience bite after bite. Dip into our savory white cheddar cheese sauce blended with craft beer or our Dijon honey mustard.

My Thoughts:

With three young children it’s always hard to find a place that we can go out to eat at and isn’t fast food. That’s one reason I love Applebee’s. The customer service is always great and they are great with families that have young children. One great example is our waitress noticed our young kids and offered to change one of their T.V’s to a channel that had cartoons on it. Let me tell you that was a life (well patience) savor! I am always messing things up when it comes to cooking, so I was more than excited to get a chance to try some of Applebee’s Spirited Cuisine. I tried both their Chicken and Shrimp Tequila Tango and Brew Pub Pretzels and Beer Cheese Dip. I LOVED them both. I got to admit I was a little nervous at first because I am not a big fan of liquor. You couldn’t taste it in both of them. If I had to pick which one was my favorite I would say the Brew Pub Pretzels and Beer Cheese dip. Mainly because I love cheese! The tango sauce on the chicken and shrimp was really sweet and yummy. My daughter was eating all my leftover sauce. Over all I was really pleased with Applebee’s Spirited Cuisine. It was very yummy, not to  costly, and my family got to enjoy a nice dinner.

  1. I went to warm up left overs in a disposable container in the over. The problem was that I left the plastic lid on and didn’t notice until I smelled it melting.

  2. Not that long ago I made some chocolate chip cookies that came out tasting horrible. I looked back and realized I had mixed up the measurement for the salt and added tablespoons.

  3. I made the mistake of pouring bacon grease in a plastic cup (no, idk what I was thinking) and it ended up melting the cup, obviously. the bacon grease ended up all over my bare feet and the kitchen!

  4. I baked brownies in a non oven safe pan and the glass shattered all over the oven and the brownies exploded everywhere. to this day I cant bake brownies, my husband has to do it haha!

  5. Tonight while making mac n cheese, i reached up to the spice rack and dropped a jar right into the cheese sauce. splattered all over the stove, wall, and cupboard!

  6. I had just gotten a new stove. baking pies when I looked in and there was a fire, I quickly threw in baking soda, but what a mess in my new stove.

  7. I LOVE French Onion Soup… and my kitchen disaster that I can think of right now is that last Thanksgiving my pie crust broke and filling spilled all over the bottom of the oven. It burned and our smoke detector went off for about half an hour! Some neighbors in our apartment complex came out of their houses to look and everything… very embarrassing!

  8. My favorite from Applebee’s is the Chicken Oriental Salad. A very close second is their yummy French Onion soup.

  9. My kitchen disaster? I was trying to make gravy and I added flour to the grease in the skillet but I forgot to add water. lol

  10. My first Thanksgiving dinner for my father in law even though I defrosted the turkey for 3 days it didn’t get done and finally my husband just said “let’s eat it anyway” I worried all night that my father in law would get sick. We didn’t get sick so I guess it was done enough

  11. my girls took me to applebee’s for mothers day and your right great great service, hey and those b b q riblets were not bad either jk.

  12. I was cooking one night, forgot that I had used a burner and put my oven mitt on it. You guessed it, the mitt caught fire and thankfully no one but me knew about it!

  13. my worst disaster was as a kid. Mom was cooking Christmas dinner & I put the oven in cleaning mode. Can you say smokey house & no dinner?

  14. My favorite thing on the menu is the three cheese chicken penne, its a little twist to regular alfredo, I love it

  15. I was trying to make gravy and did not realize that the drippings were too hat. When I poured the liquid into the pan it boiled up and over onto my hand. Needless to say I wound up in the emergency room and there was no gravy for the turkey. My guests had to do without. They lived.

  16. Honestly, my favorite food on the menu is anything that has chicken. I simply love chicken!

  17. While cooking dinner one night, my husband and I set my sons high chair tray on fire! It was on the counter and somehow got pushed onto the stove…we had to buy a new one! Thanks!

  18. Baked a perfect cheese cake for christmas in a milk glass pie plate. Dropped it and pie plate broke.

  19. I knocked over a pot, in my attempt to catch it, I ended up turning a burner on high, which melted the reusable plastic water bottle, I had also knocked over onto said burner in my effort to catch the pot. The pot hit the floor and shattered 2 porcelain floor tiles. My hubby came downstairs and just shook his head and said he didn’t even want to know how 1 person could cause such chaos.

  20. On one of my first times hosting Thanksgiving I somehow cooked my turkey upside down. Oh well, it was still good!

  21. Worst kitchen disaster when my son left a rubber spatula in the oven, I preheated the oven. The spatula burnt and messed up my oven!

  22. Years ago I was putting a pumpkin pie in the oven while talking to my brother on the phone, hit my finger on the rack and spilled pie all over the oven. Awful! So dumb.

  23. One Time I overcooked a pot of beans well actually burned them while we were outside I thought they would be ok until we heard the smoke alarm going off…but that was right after we got married 25 years ago have not burned any thing since:)

  24. I was too lazy to take out the deep fryer for calamari so I tried it on the stove with a pot of oil. When I put the calamari dipped in flour in it overflowed all over my stove. till this day I cannot seem to clean the vents in the front of my oven door

  25. They stopped selling my favorite item which was the Pork Wonton Tacos so I would have to say my fave is the Spinach and Artichoke Dip

  26. I was making circus waffles and dropped the electric skillet of grease all over the kitchen carpet. What a mess!!!

  27. I love everything on their menu. We eat there every other month and we love their food. Love that they are also child friendly because I have 4 of them. 🙂

  28. The Brew Pub Pretzel Sticks sound delicious! My favorite thing at Applebee’s is their boneless chicken wings. As for kitchen disasters, I have one a week. The last one was that I turned my back for a minute to answer my phone and I burned the eggs, bacon, and toast in one fell swoop. True story.

  30. I like the three cheese chicken penne. I also like their spinach artichoke dip and chicken tenders.

  31. Well its terrible to admit burning a frozen pizza because you forgot about it 10 minutes after walking out of the kitchen huh?

  32. My big kitchen disaster is the other day I was not paying attention and added a whole can of evaporated milk to my pumpkin pie when it was a lot less!

  33. my worst kitchen disaster was so very stupid and my fault it is embarrasing. I was cooking dinner and the pan in the oven had some water in it and half way thru cooking I realized the water had evaporated so I wanted to add more, which I did and it immediately cracked the pyrex pan ruining everything because there was glass everywhere. How stupid huh.

  34. We used to have an African Gray. Now for those of you who aren’t familiar with these birds, they learn to perfectly mimic sounds and voices that they repetitively hear. When I used to walk into the kitchen (and only me), the bird would make a sound like the smoke alarm! Yep, I was that bad of a cook that the alarm frequently went off when I cooked! LOL

  35. I have ruined a few dinners in my day- mainly by forgetting to check on them and letting them overcook. Classic trying to do too much at once. I really want to try those pretzels with beer cheese dip.
