I am a mom of three beautiful children. Although I love being a mommy I have to remember that I was a wife first. Valentine’s day is nearing and our budget is really tight. We just moved to this area and I haven’t found someone who I trusted enough to babysit. I spent the past few days trying to think of ways that we can still have a special night and be parents at the same time.
Here is what I came up with:
- Fix a picnic in front of the T.V.
- Play a little music and dance!
- Rent a movie and have some snacks.
- Have a candle light dinner.
- Play some board games.
- Take a walk around the block together.
- Write love notes and hide them where your spouse can find them.
- Call in sick and spend a day together.
- Get up early so you can have some alone time before the kids wake up. (Suggested By: Amanda)
- Go star-gazing together.

Love these ideas! Hubby and I don’t really get to do V-day anymore now that we have a toddler, who’s bday happens to be the next day. Thanks for sharing!
Love these ideas! We have two kids and have done a family Valentine’s Day party for a few years now. We make heart pizzas, chocolate-covered strawberries, and use themed dinnerware! I look forward to it every year 🙂 I found you from the Friday Frenzy party! Sammi | Grounded and Surrounded
I know what you mean about not having someone to watch your children. I have 3 and my husband and I just don’t have anyone we can leave our children with for a date night. It gets hard! I love these ideas. I would love if you linked this up to my Crafty Chaos Tuesdays! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing this great list.
Great ideas! My husband actually has the day off this year – yay! – so we`re going out whie the kids are with the grandparents!
When we stay in though we love to watch movies, drink a bottle of wine and play board games 🙂
These are great ideas for those with children. Although I don’t have children, me and my boyfriend are on a tight budget with us being college students. These are some very inexpensive ways to spend time and be lovey dovey together!
My son goes to bed early, around 6. By the time my husband is home from college around 8, it is like we aren’t Mom and Dad for a few minutes. I work a lot at night because my son is in bed and I can get things accomplished, but I make sure to close my laptop and speak to my husband for a few minutes and sit next to him on the couch or hold hands with him for at least 5 minutes a day. It is like break time I guess.
