Don’t you get tired of hearing: “I want that!” “Mommy please get me that!” “Can I have that?” I am sure you have heard all sorts of version of those type of question. I know I have. That’s why I have decided it’s time to teach my little one about money. The Money Savvy Pig makes it easy to do so!

About Money Savvy Pig:

This unique bank helps teach kids the basic choices for money: SAVE, SPEND, DONATE and INVEST.  Kids can set goals for each of the money choices, put money into each of the 4 separate tummies and watch their money grow for each of the money choices.  Then they can easily empty each individual chamber through a unique foot on the bottom of the bank.  Each bank includes eye stickers, goal-setting stickers and a guide on how to get started.

My Thoughts:

I love this idea!! I have been trying to figure out a simple but easy way to explain to my oldest who is almost 7 how to be with his money. This bank makes it very visual for children to realize that money isn’t just to go by toys and that you should do other stuff with it. It shows them that you should save, donate, invest, and then go ahead and spend a little money. It also gives them a chance to personalize their bank by picking out what they want to save, spend, donate, and invest. It does this by stickers that you can place on directly above the word. It has some printed stickers but also stickers that the kids can draw on if they want something that isn’t printed already. Bryson has decided that he is going to save his money to get a new hexbug! He also wants to donate some money to help buy toys for other kids at Christmas time. I gotta say that really touched this mom’s heart. I think he is finally getting it and all because of Money Savvy Pig.

  1. I have younger grandkids so we are still working on identifing coins and dollars. They do know it takes money to buy toys and candy.

  2. We teach them that they have to earn rewards and money to buy the things they want.

  3. we take out real money and we play games that imitate a shopping trip and they would use the money to pay for the items they purchase

  4. I teach them about money using play money. They each “earn” a certain amount for doing really good deeds and I give them choices to either save, give a little to Mommy, or treat themselves.

  5. We haven’t yet, because the do not get any “chore” money, but I would love to teach my kids for the sake of learning math 🙂

  6. when they earn it I let them spend 1/3 of it then they save the rest.

  7. We try to teach them that the money they get must be divided into several uses, including saving and giving some.

  8. My grandchildren are still really young and don’t realize what saving means, but I do try to get them to do something that I want done before they can have a surprise.

  9. We give them an allowance and teach them that if they want to buy something they have to work to save their money to buy it.
