Silver Dollar City is the Place to Celebrate

Grab the family and head to Silver Dollar City! That’s what Woman of Many Roles did for the little man’s birthday last weekend. It was an adventure for the whole family that has left them talking about it for days! The below was provided to me to help facilitate my review. All opinions are my own and honest. Before you make your trip to the park I suggest you download the app. You can plan your whole day out from start to finish. The app can track in what order you wish to ride rides, visit shops, see shows, and even where you want to eat! It even has an interactive map! The interactive map has to be my favorite part of the app, as it made finding my way across the park so much easier!

Many people don’t know, but the park opens up at 8:30 for breakfast. As you come into Silver Dollar City you are greeted with the most amazing smell of cinnamon rolls, coffee, and other baked goodies! While you are eating your breakfast you can also watch a show in the gazebo, or if you would rather, you can also check out some of the many amazing shops the park has to offer. At 9:30 you can begin riding unique and thrilling rides to add to your wonderful adventure!

Everywhere you turn there is something new to explore. There are rides for all sizes and ages. Make sure to check out the amazing and authentic demonstrations at the blacksmith, knifemaker, and candy shops! You will feel like you have been transported back in time, not to mention the true-to-period one-room schoolhouse.

The park is scattered with beautiful shops in which you can easily spend hours. Hungry? No worries! The many yummy spots to stop at and grab a treat or drink will most definitely have something for everyone! Don’t feel like eating on the go? Well, you’re in luck as there are traditional sit-down restaurants inside the park as well! There is The Mill, Rivertown Smokehouse, and much more. My personal favorite goodie was definitely the homemade cinnamon bread from Clara Belle’s. I suggest trying the chocolate caramel (ours didn’t last long)!

My in-laws came along with us to help celebrate. My mother-in-law made several comments regarding the electronic carts and how they made the day so much more enjoyable for her and my father-in-law. They were able to follow along with no pain, and be part of all family activities. My father-in-law liked having the smoking sections. Those, aloing with having the electronic cart, is what he needed to be comfortable. Hands down the favorite things for all four of my kids and my husband were the World Famous Harlem Globetrotters and the Mystic River, American Plunge, and Fire in the Hole rides! They have not stopped talking about them! However, this is just a few of them. There is so many more rides and attractions at the park.

It meant the world to me to see the excitement on my children’s faces throughout the day and know that they were having a similar experience to what I did as a kid and so much more! Not once did my 14 year-old or 12 year-old beg to get online or use their phones. In fact my son left his in the car and I had to tell my daughter to grab hers so I could reach them when we separated for them to ride a few rides. It was a perfect day together as a family. A perfect way to celebrate the caboose of our family…Lee Lee turning five!

My husband and I both went to Silver Dollar City when we were younger. Over the years we stated how important it was for us to bring our kids back and share the same memories with them. Even though the park has changed and grown over the years, there are still several things that brought back great memories of when we went with our families.

Silver Dollar City has something for people of all ages and interests. We were there from 8:30am to 7:30pm and didn’t even see all the park. With that being said I can promise you that we intend to go back again as a family…grandparents and all! One last thing: don’t forget to get the whole clan together to dress up in period clothing and get your old time photos taken at Ashely’s Tintype & Old Time Photo!
