Review: LeapFrog LeapBand
Disclosure: I was sent all of the items mentioned above for free in exchange for my open and honest opinion.
Do you have a wearable fitness tracker like a Fitbit, Jawbone, or Misfit Shine? I have tried all three but really love my Fitbit. It helps keep motivated and on track of my fitness level. The thing is these devices are wonderful for adults, but not for kids? I can’t count how many times my daughter wanted to play with my Fitbit. I tried explaining to her it’s not a toy and what it’s for. The more I thought about it the more I wondered why don’t kids have something like these. It’s important for them to learn to stay active at a younger age, because it’s easier for them to make it a habit. Well, now there is. LeapFrog has something that’s called LeapBand.

My Thoughts:
It says the appropriate age for this is four to seven, but I personally think it’s neat. The best part is that Leap Frog turned getting active in to a game. My husband is a P.E teacher and coach, so you can only imagine how important it is for my family to be active and get involved with sports. If you see me though, you wouldn’t think that matters. The thing is I started a little late in life realizing just how important being active is. You can eat healthy, but it won’t matter much if you aren’t active too. And trust me, it’s a hard habit to break!! I don’t want this for my little ones, with that being said I am willing to try anything and everything to make it fun for them. LeapBand is perfect for just that. It looks like a watch, and can be easily adjusted for different kids. There are 50 fun challenges that encourage Bryson and Zoey to have healthy habits. It encourages them to move, but having them do different movements. Bryson’s favorite is “pouncing like a lion.” Than again he loves anything jungle so that’s no surprise. Zoey’s favorite thing is her pet pal. She loved making her’s unique (and not like her brothers, because they just can’t have the same!) She loves racing it on the app and taking care of it. She calls it her best friend. Now, my favorite part is that I have control of it. I can set locks where the kids can’t play with it when they are supposed to be in school or sleeping. Which is good, because I can see Bryson sneaking to play with it when he’s suppose to be sleeping. Overall, I would say it’s a huge hit in this household. It’s not only fun, but works great for encouraging them to get up and move!!
