Review: Lakeshore

This is a sponsored post.  As with all the products I blog about, I use them personally and opinions are my own, I was not influenced in any way by the compensation I received.

My son started Kindergarten this year. I was proud mommy! Of course as a mom I wanted to insure he would achieve. I wanted to help him out in every possible. What’s the one way you can get children to learn? Through toys and games! So I began to search for just that. I was pretty excited when I found Lakeshore.

About Complete the Word:

“Children simply slide an activity card right into the board, then use the permanently attached magnetic wand to guide the correct letter tiles into place—and complete the words!”

Targets standards in these areas:

  • identifying beginning, middle, and ending sounds
  • associating letters with sounds
  • spelling and decoding

My Thoughts:

My son was pretty excited to get to try out his new game. The first thing I notice was how sturdy the game board was. This meant a lot to me because if it can be broken my son can do it!! Another great feature is the pin is attach, because again if it can be lost my kids will lose it! 🙂 So they clearly had kids in mind when creating this game. Now on to the educational part. This is the perfect game/toy to help children with phonics. They have three set of cards. Blue is for the beginning sounds, green is for middle sounds, and purple is for the ending sounds. Nothing makes a mom more prouder than hearing their child sounding out words and then hearing the excitement in their voice when they figured out the word!! My son’s teacher even made a comment to me about how he is getting better at sounding at words. I can say with full confidence that the Complete the Word toy is a must have! It’s sturdy, fun for the kids, and it works!!
