Giveaways Parenting Tips/Advice

October is SIDS Awareness Month Facts with HALO (GIVEAWAY)

When my kids were infants I wanted to bring them into bed, I had this thought that we would all sleep better if the baby was there. I knew it wasn’t safe, so I didn’t cave, but I really wished there had been a way I could have had my kids right there with me safely… {keep on reading because now there is a way!}

October is SIDS Awareness Month and my friends at HALO have asked me to share these sleep safety tips for parents and caregivers with you. Please share this post with anyone you know that has a new baby for Sleep Safety.

ALWAYS

  • Place baby to sleep on his or her back at naptime and at night time.
  •  Room-share, but don’t bed share; the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend against bed sharing as it can lead to an increased risk for accidental suffocation.
  • Use a crib or bassinet that meets current safety standards with a firm mattress that fits snugly and is covered with only a tight-fitting crib sheet.
  • Remove all soft bedding and toys from your baby’s sleep area (this includes loose blankets, bumpers, pillows and positioners). The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests using a wearable blanket instead of loose blankets to keep your baby warm.
  • Offer a pacifier when putting baby to sleep. If breastfeeding, introduce pacifier after one month or after breastfeeding has been established.
  • Breastfeed, if possible, but when finished, put your baby back to sleep in his or her separate safe sleep area alongside your bed.

NEVER

  • Never put your baby to sleep on any soft surface (adult beds, sofas, chairs, water beds, quilts, sheep skins etc.)
  • Never dress your baby too warmly for sleep; keep room temperature 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Never allow anyone to smoke around your baby or take your baby into a room or car where someone has recently smoked.

HALO continues the mission to develop products that help babies sleep safely with the introduction of a brand new baby bassinet – the HALOTM BassinestTM. With its unique dual-swivel design, the Bassinest is the only bassinet that moves to bring baby to mom. It allows baby to sleep as close as Mom wants – even right next to her in bed – so baby can sleep close AND safe.

  1. The diamond turquoise elephant is really adorable! It would fit in perfectly with our nursery
and our baby boy sleeps amazingly well in those sleep sacks. A full week of 8+ hours 🙂

  2. For now would have to be gender neutral, so green or yellow. Later, that may change. 🙂

  3. No trouble , I promise. Thank you for your kind words . Again I thank you for the spotlight being shown where it is not yet, nor ever will be, comfortable to be shown. Don’t forget the 15th Light your candles everyone.

  4. Gender neutral for now, but once I find out the gender of my bun I will have a new preference!

  5. The question on the form is asking about a recipe to try. Is the question wrong?

From the Halo site I like the Wearable Blanket Plushy Dot – Chocolate.

  6. I am not sure what recipes for trying that your asking about up on the raffle copter but I am always in the market for new ways to make chicken and hamburger. It is SO EASY to fall into a rut in the kitchen. About SIDS awareness I want to thank you for speaking about it here on your forum. SO MANY do not want to talk about it as it is just to sad. While it is the saddest thing ever to loos a child it is VERY important to talk about ways to prevent it from happening. Bless you for opening the doors to communication and BLESS those that have had this happen to them. Remember the 15th of Oct. IS remembrance day. Light a candle for all the little ones who were robbed from us too soon. Thank you! Rock a bye Sweet Baby J…. Meme will ALWAYS remember you.
