Disclaimer: I was given products in this post in order to host a party. I am a member of Mom Select and from time to time I am given parties in hopes I host a party. I was not paid in any way to write this post. All opinions are my own.
For us July is a month for celebration. First we celebrated our freedom just like everyone else in the US! Second we celebrated the birth of my beautiful handful Carly Jo! This year I made the party were it not only was for the kids but for us mommies as well. I was given the chance to host a Morton Salt girl party. Morton Salt Girl was turning 100 and Carly Jo was turning 3. So together we celebrated with Morton Salt Girl & Dora! In my book that’s a perfect combination. LOL! I was looking up the different was to include Morton Salt into the party and was shocked at the number of ways their products can be used! It’s a huge part of everybody’s lives. Especially mine! Not only do I use it to cook in my food, but I also use it to clear ice in the winter, make bath salt products, crafts, heck I even gurgled it in water before to take care of a cut in my mouth. It wasn’t until I was selected to host this party that I realized just how much Morton Salt has been part of my life!
My party kit included:
Morton Salt
recipes
trivia game
fun party ideas
Morton themed candies
umbrella
some parties supplies (decor, napkins, ect.)
coupons
bath soaks
and a super cute Morton Girl tin!
First what is a party with out some great snacks! My favorite was the Sweet & Salty Candied Nuts. It’s a quick and simple candied nut recipe that is great on salads, cheese trays, or alone as a snack. After everyone enjoyed a few snacks we played a game of trivia. Here is a couple of questions for you:
What did Julius Caesar Cherish most?
A: Friends B: Romans C: Countrymen D: Salt (Answer is D! In the ancient world, salt was as good as gold. Roman soldiers were paid in salt. Trade routes were established because of it. When supplies ran out, empires fell. )
Which of these can’t you live without?
A: Money B: Love C: Salt D: Chocolate (Answer is C! Although it sure would be nice to have all of the above, the only true necessity, physiologically speaking, is salt. The sodium it provides regulates the heartbeat and the body’s balance of fluids. And not only does salt keep you alive, it’s also pretty tasty.)
The trivia was super fun! Everyone learned a new interesting fact. Even my husband who is a trivia nut!! Once the trivia was over I handed out coupons which everyone was excited about because who doesn’t love saving money. Lastly I shared a couple little neat tricks about my favorite Morton product, Epsom Salt. There is so much pampering that you can do with Epsom Salt.
Epsom Salt Facial:
Prepare:
Favorite Cleansing Wash
1/2 teaspoon of Morton Natural Epsom Salt
Directions:
Mix together and gently message all over your face in small circles. Allow to set 15 minutes and then rinse! You must be very careful to avoid your eyes!!
Foot Scrub:
Prepare:
1 cup Morton Natural Epsom salt
1/2 cup coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon
vanilla extract
1 lemon juiced
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients together. Than let your feet soak in warm water for 10 minutes and then rub this mixture onto them. Let soak for 5 minutes. Rinse and then dry.
Bath Salts: (My favorite!)
Prepare:
Coarse sea salt
Epsom salts
Baking soda
Essential oils
Food coloring
Directions:
In a large bowl, mix to combine: 6 parts coarse sea salt; 3 parts Epsom salts, to soothe tired muscles and reduce inflammation; and 1 part baking soda, to soften waters and alleviate skin irritation. Add a few drops of essential oils, and combine. Lastly add a few drops of food coloring, until you have the shade you would like!
Did you believe me? There are tons of ways to pamper yourself with Epsom salt. In fact there is a lot of healing factors as well! I was just at the doctors with my daughter for some chigger bites that cover her legs and backs. One of the things he said to do was bath her in Epsom salt. I did not know that would help!! So in the midst of all this partying and celebrating Morton Girl and Carly Jo’s birthday I learned a lot! Nothing is like mixing fun and education! LOL!
Think outside of the box….what is your favorite Morton Girl product and how do you use it?
