Keep Your Pets Healthy with the Optimum Wellness Plan®
I was approached by Banfield Pet Hospital® to enroll in their Optimum Wellness Plan®, and was provided veterinary care through their Optimum Wellness Plan® and 6 months of heartworm protection.
Three years ago right around this time we adopted our dog Sadie Girl. More so she adopted us. At that time we lived in a small town in the middle of no where. The nearest town was about thirty miles away. Sadie Girl was abandoned at my husbands work, the local school. She automatically took to all the kids around and just soaked up all the attention. We took her home until we could find her owner. After about a week we realized that wasn’t going to happen, so we called the local shelter. Nobody was looking for her, and because she was a pit bull she was going to be put to sleep. This broke my heart and made me sick. Even though we really couldn’t afford to keep her we took her in anyways and she become a huge part of our family. My mother in law even treats her as another grand child and gets her treats/gifts every Christmas. On a tight budget we couldn’t afford to take her in just for wellness checks, so I couldn’t jump at this opportunity with Banfield Pet Hospital® fast enough, especially since heartworm disease is one of the most serious and potentially fatal parasites affecting dogs. I was very excited to hear what they had to say about her.

What we learned:
Setting up my Optimum Wellness Plan® was incredibly easy. All I had to do was make a quick call. With in matter of minutes I was all set to go. The day arrived for Sadie Girl’s appointment. I have an extremely sensitive little girl, so when she heard we were taking Sadie Girl to the doctor she almost instantly broke out in tears that something was wrong. So I had to prepare her and explained that we were just getting her checked out and make sure everything was okay. Just like we do for her. Zoey was ready and so was Sadie, so off we went. The town we went to actually has TWO Banfield clinics. One on each side of the town. Sadly, we went to the wrong one. However, the lady at the front desk was super nice and got us in anyways. So we didn’t have to drive across town. I can’t say enough how pleased and impressed I was. Everyone was super nice and full of information. Even though Sadie went potty before hand she went in the clinic and as embarrassing that was for me, the vet assistant was super nice about it and just cleaned up with a smile. (I tell you what … if that was me I wouldn’t be smiling!) The vet was super knowledgeable and very friendly. We had guessed Sadie was about 4, but she said by the way her teeth was she was actually closer to 6. Neat! She also scanned her and she had no chip. (I had a feeling she didn’t have one, but it was nice to know!) With the wellness plan Sadie was able to get all her shots, blood work, and other tests to make sure she was healthy and didn’t have any worms. We got all the results back pretty quickly. Most of them that day! The others the next, because of their app that you can get on your phone or tablet to keep track of all their records. Sadie for the most part got a clean bill of health! Except for she did have a small case of worms, but the kind you get from eating grass. Which since she’s an outside dog it didn’t really surprise me. They prescribed her a medicine that she needed to take for five days and then she would be good to go. We live an hour away from the clinic, so I was thrilled when they offered to mail me the prescription. I had the medicine the next day!! The services we got that day alone is the same value of a full year of the Wellness Plan. I can’t say enough how great this plan is and how much you will love the Banfield Clinics and the people there!!
