Howard B Wigglebottom : Learns About Bullies
As a mom sending your kid off to school is pretty scary. You can’t always be there and protect them. My job as a mom is to make sure that I can give him the skills and knowledge he needs to be the person he should be. Weather I like it or not there’s a chance that he will have to deal with bullies. Everyone now and then deals with a bully. They are hard to deal with and can be intimidating. What do you? How do you prepare your little one for dealing with bullies? Me, I turn to Howard B Wigglebottom Learns About Bullies.
First off, Howard B explains what bullies are. He also goes over different ways to deal with bullies. For example telling a teacher or adult right away!! Repetition is very important method to teaching little ones. Over and over it says “BE BRAVE, BE BOLD, A TEACHER MUST BE TOLD!!” After reading this book my son was constantly repeating that phrase. I was confident that it give him the skills and knowledge he needed in dealing with bullies.
In the back of the book it gives you suggestions for lessons and reflections that you can go over with your little to help him understand even more what the Howard Binkow is trying to get across. One of the things that I liked in the back was his ideas to encourage children to report bullying.
- Create a bully box so children can leave an anonymous note about bullies.
- Have a telephone number where a child can leave a message about bullies.
- Choose a super kid of the week. Ask the child to fill in the blanks on a piece of paper. “Did you notice anyone being bullied this week? Did you bully anyone this week?
I love Howard B. Wigglebottom books because each one focus on a lesson that little one’s need to learn. It’s hard enough for us adults to learn some of these lessons.
