“We don’t have the time or the money to have a date night!” “Intimacy what’s that…we have three kids!”
Have you said that before? I know I have a few times! With Valentines day around the corner I decided to get creative. Believe it or not you can have a date night on a budget!! I was surprised how simple it was and wanted to share my little secret with you guys.
My game plan is to put the kids in bed early.
This way no babysitter. (Money saved!) Then I will cook a dinner just for us. Meaning NO chicken nuggets! Plus, we will eat it by candle light. Trust me candle light will add a unique touch of romance. Not sure why. It could be the scent or the fact that it’s almost dark! Haha! After dinner we will cuddle up with a nice blanket and a movie. Then a secret ingredient to end the night on a special note.
First off we had to do a little shopping in order to prepare. So off to Walmart we (well I) went with my grocery list in hand. My shopping list was pretty simple. It included: steak, potatoes, salad, and lastly K-Y Yours + Mine personal lubricant for couples. We picked up the K-Y Date Night pack (my secret ingredient) which also offered a great deal for Plated dinner ingredients delivered right to your front door Vudu movie credit for you to stream right at home.
As I was preparing the dinner I felt some excitement brewing. I have to admit although I have been a wife for nine years seven of those years I have been a mom and sometimes forget what it means to be a wife. I realized how much I missed spending some alone time with just my husband. Don’t get me wrong I love my kids, but I love my husband too. There needs to be a better balance!
It doesn’t take much and wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.
The kids went to bed nicely (for once!) We enjoyed a great dinner. We watched a movie that didn’t involved a cartoon character of some sort. Then we ended the night with K-Y Date Night.
All of this was done inside and under 40 dollars. 40 dollars is not much when you consider what you are getting out of it. You are getting a chance to reconnect with your husband. I know personally I am going to try to set aside at least two nights a month for us to have some time to reconnect and be husband and wife instead of mommy and daddy. I want to leave you with one last advice.
You can be a fun mommy and…..
a fun wife!!
My husband is semi retired so there are a lot of date nights
It is possible to have date night without breaking the bank. Great post. It’s an exercise in balancing priorities for sure
Yes, it’s possible to have a fun date night and not spend a lot. Have to keep the connections going.
Date nights dont have to be expensive and this is a great example of that!
A great date night doesn’t have to cost a lot! Great point.
If there’s two things I like it’s run and saving money.
LOL, I never thought of buying “Date Night” for a date night. Thanks for posting!
Nice to have a date night and relax.

Sounds like a good plan, haha. Good to know be flexible and balance things in life.
Sounds like you had a great date night!
You make a great point! it is so easy to forget to be a wife once you become a mother. It’s all in finding balance. Sadly, it doesn’t come easy for everybody. Thank you for the great post! #client
You’re right! You can still have fun even if you spend most your day as a mom! Have a great holiday! #client
