Bring #Netflix to Your Kitchen This #Thanksgiving

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Netflix for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

The holidays are the best time to bring families together around the table for delicious meals and great conversations! Netflix wants to help you as you gear up for your family's feast to bring excitement and enjoyment back to the kitchen.

Netflix let's members enjoy their favorite shows on an iPad in the kitchen, the big screen in the living room, or even on your phone while waiting in line at the grocery store. Netflix is making it easier to bring the family together this Thanksgiving by suggestion TV shows and movies you can watch while the turkey is baking.

The widely dysfunctional Bluth Family on "Arrested Development" always seems a little bananas, drunken, spicy, or up in flames. In honor of this Up In Flames Drunken Bananas with Spiced Ice Cream was made.

On Saturday night my husband and I usually try to have a "movie" date night after the kids go to bed. This past weekend I decided to make this yummy treat to go along with our movie night. As fancy as it sounds it was pretty easy to make.

Ingredients

Spiced Ice Cream:

1 pint vanilla ice cream

1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon ground ginger

Large ping of ground cloves

Flambeeed Bananas:

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/4 cup (packed) dark brown sugar

1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 medium bananas, peeled

1/4 cup golden rum

2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

To Make The Spice Ice Cream:

1. In a medium bowl, break up the ice cream with a spoon, then mix in the nutmeg, ginger, and cloves. Cover the ice cream and return it to the freezer. Keep the ice cream frozen until ready to serve.

To Cook The Bananas:

1. In a 12 inch nonstick frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Slice the bananas in half lengthwise and lay the bananas cut side down in the butter mixture. Cook for about 3 minutes, or until the bananas are caramelized on the underside and the sugar mixture has melted and become golden brown.

2. Remove the pan from the heat. Add the rum. Using a long match, carefully ignite the rum. Be sure to this as a well-ventilated area and away from any flammable material. Allow the flame to burn out. Turn the bananas over. Return the pan to medium heat and stir in the cream. Baste the bananas with the caramel sauce for about a minute.

3. Divide the bananas between two plates. Spoon some sauce over the bananas. Top each with a scoop of ice cream, and then drizzle the remaining sauce over and around the ice cream and bananas. Serve immediately.

The thing I love most about Netfilx is the fact that several shows are available when I want it and at my finger tips. Just this past year I have really gotten into Law and Order: SVU. I have missed SEVERAL shows and feel like I am a bit behind. The good thing about Netflix I can catch up on my show and do it while I am cooking. It makes the time go a lot faster. When it comes to Thanksgiving Day everyone comes together in this one house. In my family we have TONS of little kids running around. Usually after we eat dinner we would get all the kids together in the front room and have them pick a movie off netflix. This way us adults can enjoy some quite time while the kids are all laying on the floor enjoying a movie. Everyone is happy!

Imagine how relaxing and time would fly by if you had Netflix to watch while cooking in the kitchen? What show or movie on Netflix will be accompanying in the kitchen this holiday season?
