I will be the first to admit recycling was confusing to me at first, but the best part is you can make it as simple or as hard as you want it to be. I like to make it simple and fun so I can include my kids. Recently I discovered a way to reuse plastic water bottles and juice bottles instead of throwing them away. Here’s how….
How to Make Pencil Case With Plastic Water Bottles:
What You Need:
- Two Plastic Bottle
- One Zipper
- Knife
- scissors
- Glue Gun
Step One: Cut the top of the plastic bottles off and put to the side. (We will use them for another project.)
Step Two: Cut the plastic bottle bottoms off and divide using knife.
Step Three: Take one side of the zipper and add some hot glue to it.
Step Four: Attach the zipper to one of the bottle bottoms.
Step Five: Repeat step three and four to the other side of the zipper and other bottle bottom.
Step Six: Zip the zipper up and now you have a pencil or crayon box made out of a plastic bottle!
Remember I said to save the bottle tops. Watch the video below to see a simple kitchen hack that you can use with the plastic bottles top.
This project was a blast for them and a win win for both. We used the whole plastic bottle and we both got something out of it. They got a pencil/crayon box and I got something to keep those pesky popcorn kernels in their bag. You can use this idea for anything in the kitchen to reduce open bag spills!
Another fun recycling project I did with my kids is made a water bottle that they can use to water the plants on their own. This project is as simple as it can be and perfect for kids!
How to Make A Water Pail with Plastic Juice Bottles:
What You Need:
- Juice Bottle
- Water
- Knife
Step One: Clean out the juice bottle.
Step Two: Poke several holes into the lid of the juice bottle.
Step Three: Fill up the bottle with water.
Step Four: Water your plants!
Like I side…simple and kid friendly! I think it’s important to encourage our kids to recycle. Our kids are our future and in the end it will be up to them.
