Have you ever just looked at your kids and felt like crying. My oldest entered first grade this year and sometimes when I look at him that’s exactly what I feel like doing, crying. He has gotten so big and achieved many things. Along with making the big step into first grade came something he was new to..homework! One thing that has helped me with dealing with him and his homework is Mark My Time Digital Bookmark.

About Mark-My-Time Digital Bookmark:

Made of durable polyethylene plastic it’s available in six hot colors – Neon Blue, Neon Purple, Neon Green, Bright Pink, Bright Yellow and Bright Red. With its slim form, it fits neatly between the pages of any book.

At the top is a digital clock that’s powered by a replaceable watch battery. Choose to set a countdown timer with alarm that alerts readers when they have completed their required reading time or use the cumulative timer, which stores up to 100 hours of reading time over multiple sessions until the reader chooses to delete it. A 60-second countdown/count up feature displays seconds at the one-minute mark to aid in fluency checks.

My Thoughts:

This year teacher assigned my son daily homework. She wants him to read 15 minutes everyday there is school. I honestly don’t think that’s too much to ask for. Practice makes perfect. However my son does!! He hates setting still for any longer than he has too. For awhile I struggled with him and how much longer he had to read. He was asking me more than he was actually reading. Mark My Time Digital Bookmark helps him see just exactly how much time he has left to read. It’s perfect for him. It’s also a lot more durable than your typical bookmark. It fits perfectly within his book so he can pick up on his reading the next day. This has prevented a lot of arguments in our house and is a must have when it comes to older children reading on their own.
