The biggest beauty trend of the last few years has got to be picture perfect eyebrows. A few years ago, it was pretty much unheard of to fill in your eyebrows! Now, however, things couldn’t be more different. We also have celebrities such as Cara Delevingne to thank for bringing fuller, bushier eyebrows back into fashion. During the 90s and early 2000s, the trend was for over plucked, skinny eyebrows. So this new, natural look is what most people will consider a positive movement! Eyebrows are extremely important for shaping your face and helping you express emotions. However, the perfect brow doesn’t come easily. Take a look at these common brow disasters and how to rectify them.
Help! I’ve over plucked!
Got a little pluck-happy with your set of tweezers? We’ve all been there. In fact, many people suffer from stringy, thin brows due to over plucking during their teenage years to follow a trend. If this sounds like you, don’t immediately think that your brows are a lost cause. First, you will need to avoid plucking or waxing your eyebrows at all for a couple of months, just so you can get a least a bit of natural growth back. If you see stray hairs that you would normally pluck straight, consider first if they are actually part of your natural brow line. It has also been said that coconut oil can help your eyebrows grow back faster. Or, visit your beautician who may be able to recommend a treatment for you. If all else fails, cleverly applied makeup is the best way to go about faking fuller brows. Make sure you draw small, thin lines so they mimic natural hair growth.
My brows are too light/dark
Getting your brows the perfect colour can be challenging. If they are too dark, they can look far too harsh – almost like tattooed brows. If they are too light, you won’t notice them. It is important to consider your hair colour and complexion when choosing the colour of your brow tools. Generally, eyebrows are a couple of shades darker than the rest of your hair. So, if you are blonde, go for a pale brown brow. If you are raven-haired, get a black pencil. Products such as Anastasia Brow Wiz Kit generally come in a huge range of colours, so you’re sure to find the one that’s perfect for you.
My brows are a weird shape
Maybe you don’t like the natural shape of your brows, or maybe you have experimented and it hasn’t paid off. Whatever your situation, there are plenty of products available that can help you shape your brows. Consider using an eyebrow stencil if you don’t have the steadiest hand. Simply choose your favoured shape, place the stencil over your brow bone and fill in the gap with your chosen product. Remember to still use light strokes going in one direction rather than ‘colouring in’ your brows. This will give you a harsh, cartoon look rather than the naturally gorgeous brows you desire.
