I swear this year has been the hardest for me to handle emotionally. Carly Jo is starting her first year in Pre-School and Zoey O is a Kindergartener this year. I have always believed that learning isn’t just for schools. I can help encourage them to learn at home. One of my favorite ways to do that is by using Leap Frog products. They have tons of fun educational products that my children not only enjoy to do but want to do. More often than not they don’t even realize they are learning.

I am very excited to be a part of the LeapFrog blogger program this year, and they recently sent us a LeapPad and LeapReader, along with their “Get Ready For Kindergarten” LeapReader books and LeapPad game! I have started using these with not only Zoey O but also with Carly Jo.

My Thoughts: 

This would have to be Zoey O’s favorite thing. She loves to “read” but in the past it has always been what she would just be saying what she  thought the book was saying. Not with the LeapReader she can go a long and read a long the story. Not only can she read along but they take it a step further for her by encouraging her to comprehend what she was reading with fun activities and games. In one of the stores they have her practicing writing her ABCs by connecting the dots. She also learned for the first time what a word search is. In another story she practices counting to thirty by also connecting the dots and she also gets to draw some wild animals. In the last story she gets to trace 3D shape names, matches shapes, and practice going to thirty again.  The thing I love most is every day it’s a new adventure and she continues to practice her writing and reading skills while learning new things.

My Thoughts:

This would be Carly Jo’s favorite! It goes everywhere we go. She just turned three and has been playing this only for a couple of weeks and she has already learned so much that I think will help her in Pre-School. She  got a jump-start in learning about class rooms routine and schedule. I don’t think it will be a huge struggle for her to adjust because it’s already somewhat familiar with her. The most shocking thing to me is that the game has helped her in recognizing letters. I have tried time and time again, but have had zero luck. She plays this game for one week and she started picking up on it.

I think it has a lot to do with the fact the characters and bright colors are more attracting than mommy is. Plus, it helps that LeapFrog does a lot of research and holds focus groups to see if their products will do what they want and work. I know without a doubt that LeapFrog has my child’s education and entertainment in mind when they are creating the products and can’t wait to see what else they come out with!!
