4 Unexpected Locations for a Family Vacation

It can often be a struggle to decide on the perfect family trip, especially if you’re looking for something a little different than what you and your loved ones are used to doing. Particularly if you are limited to the summer holidays to work around the kids’ school schedule, finding a great deal within a perfect location can be tricky. However, with an open mind and a little bit more research, there’s no reason you can’t plan your next family vacation to be an entirely new experience.

Hopefully, the locations below can serve as inspiration.

  • Tokyo, Japan

You may have initially dismissed a bustling city like Tokyo as too busy, too frantic and perhaps simply too neon-lit for your family’s eyes. You might want to reconsider, however, as Tokyo is filled with wonderful experiences for all the family – especially if you or your kids are fans of Japanese anime. The Ghibli Museum is a true delight for any fan.

Tokyo is also filled with rich culture and culinary delights, and if your family are foodies, you can book a culinary tour with some of the best local experts.

  • Ibiza, Spain

Despite its party atmosphere and reputation, Ibiza is actually the perfect location for a family trip. You can avoid the rave scene altogether and instead explore the other attractions and beauty this Spanish island has to offer. Ibiza is home to 80 beaches, all of which are long stretches of idyllic white sand, meaning the family will be spoilt for choice when it comes to relaxing by the waves.

There is also a range of fun-filled activities you can do as a family, such as exploring Ibiza’s landscapes off-road with a jeep safari, hitting Acrobosc Adventure Park which offers trampolining, zip-lining and climbing walls, or trying a waterpark.

To make the most out of your family experience, why not consider renting a private villa with Le Collectionist?

  • Nashville, Tennessee

It doesn’t matter if you and your family are fans of country or music or not, Nashville is still an amazing place to be, and there are plenty of kid-friendly attractions to keep everyone satisfied. A winter trip to Nashville will see you treated to an ice holiday attraction at Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, which includes fantastic ice sculptures and ice slides. If your family are still music lovers, country or not, you can take a family trip to the Grammy Museum Gallery to learn more about the music production business.

  • Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Of course, the Dutch capital is known for a particular district which isn’t family-friendly – but this can be avoided altogether, and it shouldn’t let you pass over Amsterdam as the ideal location for all the family. Amsterdam offers beautiful canal views, lined with cozy cafes and attractive architecture, as well as important historical museums and locations such as Anne Frank’s House and the Van Gogh Museum. If your children aren’t into culture or history much, you can always distract them with an authentic Dutch pancake at one of the many child-friendly cafes.
